|Nationwide Wan-An Air Raid Drill Held on 28 April||1784||F.A.S.||2015-05-01|
HsinchuCounty is near to mainland China, and a jet can reach our airspace in ten minutes. In addition, a new airline route M503 is about to launch, witch distances to Taiwan straits median line merely 6 nautical miles, compressing our reaction time to airstrike. In consideration of these facts, and since the people’s republic of China have never renounced military method to unify Taiwan, countians should be prepared to such kind of situation.
Wan an drill was held on 28 april, 13:30 to 14:00. Through this exercise, we reviewed our information transfer system, air-raid siren, evacuation operation of people and vehicles, air-raid shelters and actions such as shutting down the lights, doors and windows.
The preconference of the exercise was hosted by the commissioner of the county, Chiu Ching-Chun (邱鏡淳). The situation between Taiwan and mainland China was analyzed, the preparation of the county was browsed, and also was the latest information of our military gears represented.
After the meeting, in the middle of the drill, the participant toured ChupeiCity, inspected the shelters and the operation of civil defense corps. The road was evacuated, the doors, windows and lights of stores were closed.
After the drill, the deputy director general of Coastal Patrol Directorate General, Huang Hang-Song (黃漢松), issued 20,000 NTD for extra food, to reward the effort of the participants. The exercise mobilized 234 police officers, 144 civilians, 4 gendarmes supported, 182 police motors and 13 police cars. With the cooperation of the county, the drill was successful, it enhanced our defensive ability.
