What is 1955 hotline?

Foreign workers are considered the guests who work together with us to enhance the economy in Taiwan. However the Taiwan government recognizes there may be difficulties that the foreigner workers could encounter during their time working in Taiwan. It is therefore our job to offer a better protection and service for the workers from foreign countries. Please read below to know our objectives of providing the 1955 hotline service:

A. To build a comprehensive protection network.

B. To protect the legal and working rights of the foreign workers.

C. To ensure the follow-ups of complaint cases.

 

How do I use the 1955 hotline?

A. You can call 1955 hotline at any time:

The 1955 hotline is run at a 24/7 basis to provide services all year round.

B. Multilingual service is provided:

The service is provided in Chinese, English, Thai, Indonesian and Vietnamese.

C. You don’t need to pay for your call:

The 1955 hotline is toll-free regardless whether the call is made from a cell phone, landline or pay phone.

 

What services are provided by the 1955 hotline?

A. Counseling service:

Counseling on employment agreement, wages, work hours, occupational hazards, and broker is available for foreign workers and employers.

B. Complaint service:

Upon receiving a complaint on labor dispute, mistreatment or physical violation from a foreign work, the 1955 operator will promptly forward the case to the local bureau of labor affairs or judicial police for investigation to protect the rights of foreign workers.

C. Legal counseling service:

Both foreign workers and employers can call the 1955 hotline to seek legal counseling on labor dispute.

D. Placement referral service:

If a foreign worker sustains physical harm or is a victim of human trafficking, 1955 hotline will refer the foreign worker to the local bureau of labor affair for temporary placement.

E. Other services:

If the call of a foreign worker or employer involves other agencies, such as Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Prevention Committee, National Immigration Agency, or police authority, 1955 will provide contact information.
